Mesa is well know to be a popular retirement destination and has a 17% population of 65+. The second largest age demographic is 34-55 year olds who make up 25% of the Mesa population.
Mesa homes prices average about 25% lower than their closest bordering city, Gilbert. This is in part because there is a large quantity of older homes and smaller in the area which drives that percentage down. There are however several newer areas in the city of Mesa that rival Gilbert prices. Although Mesa may be a little older and historic, you will have no trouble finding new build communities sprinkled around the area. The most notable new community to be sprouting up is the highly desired Cadence and Eastmark communities.
